To our Church Members and the Church Community,
Many of you are aware of the serious health situation affecting various part of the world, including some parts of our country, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19 illness). Many are wondering what the Conference is doing to inform the membership. We want to recommend taking these commonsense precautions to safeguard your personal health as recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
If you are symptomatic (fever, coughing, sneezing, body aches, etc.) do not go out in public where you can infect others. The common influenza/flu virus is also very active right now and has killed more people already this year than COVID-19. If you’re sick, stay home!
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
If someone in your house is sick, stay home to avoid unknowingly spreading the virus to others. Self-quarantining yourself is making the right choice for you and your community. Arrange for work-at-home, learn-at-home, and worship-at-home options.
If you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, please seek medical evaluation.
Let’s all try our best to safeguard health and wellbeing in our churches, schools, homes, workplaces and communities. Because this is an ongoing situation that is evolving quickly, here are some resources for you to review should you wish to seek further information.
